AIA names new president

FEBRUARY 13--The Automated Imaging Association (AIA; Ann Arbor, MI: www.machinevisiononline.org) named John Stack, president of Edmund Industrial Optics (Barrington, NJ; www.edmundoptics.com), president of the association for 2003--2004.

FEBRUARY 13--The Automated Imaging Association (AIA; Ann Arbor, MI: www.machinevisiononline.org) at its recent business conference held in Orlando, FL, named John Stack, president of Edmund Industrial Optics (Barrington, NJ; www.edmundoptics.com), president of the association for 2003--2004. Stack was elected by his fellow members of the AIA board of directors to succeed Mike Kelley, director of marketing at Electro Scientific Industries (Portland, OR; www.esi.com). An active supporter of the AIA, Stack has served on the board of directors for two years.

Stack serves as chief operating officer of Edmund, a supplier of optics and electronics imaging products. Over the past 13 years, Stack has held several positions with Edmund including applications engineer, optical design engineer, vice president of engineering, and executive vice president. During this time, he has designed optical and machine-vision systems for a variety of applications, including semiconductor metrology, biometrics, pharmaceutical packaging, automotive assembly, and biomedical systems.
