A new line USB and GigE cameras is designed around a newly released 10.6-Mpixel CMOS sensor from Aptina Imaging. A 1/2-in. optical format enables the cameras to capture minute details accurately with a large field of view. USB 2.0 camera models achieve a frame rate of more than 3 frames/s in 10-Mpixel mode; GigE models deliver up to 8 frames/s and can transfer full 12-bit color depth. All models provide AOI, binning, and subsampling modes for quick previews and live image acquisition. HDTV 1080p resolution is achievable as well as rates of more than 100 frames/s at smaller image sizes. IDS Imaging Development Systems

PRESS RELEASE

4x HDTV resolution!

USB and GigE Cameras with New 10 Megapixel Sensor

IDS Imaging Development Systems is pleased to announce the launch of new USB and GigE cameras designed around a newly released 10.6 megapixel CMOS sensor from Aptina. This new sensor provides four times the resolution of High Definition Television (HDTV). And thanks to the 1/2” optical format, it can capture even the tiniest details with a high level of accuracy even with a large field of view. The new 10 megapixel models – like all uEye cameras from IDS – come with an easy-to-use software package that allows seamless integration also with existing vision applications.

While the USB 2.0 camera models achieve a frame rate of over 3 frames per second in 10 megapixel mode, the powerful GigE models deliver up to 8 fps and can transfer full 12-bit color depth. All camera models also provide AOI (area of interest), binning and subsampling modes for quick previews and live image acquisition. HDTV 1080p resolution is also achievable and so are frame rates of over 100 fps at smaller image sizes.

The new 10 megapixel cameras come with built-in scaling that allows image size reduction in real-time. In this mode the sensor can scale the image size in factors from 1.0 to 8.0.

Cameras with the new sensor are available in all camera series from IDS. The extensive portfolio covers a broad range of USB 2.0 and GigE models, board-level and housing versions, and even splash-water resistant cameras that meet the IP65/IP67 standards.

As the included software package is the same for all uEye cameras, users can quickly and easily upgrade to the 10 megapixel models and integrate them within their own applications. The new cameras can be implemented without much change; all that needs to be done is adjust a few camera-specific parameters. The high-resolution models are supported from uEye software version 3.50 onwards. The software can be downloaded for free from IDS's web site in 32-bit and 64-bit versions for Windows (incl. XP, Vista and Windows 7) and Linux.
