Ulis' PICO640 LWIR detector selected for portable thermal imaging equipment

Thermoteknix Systems has selected Ulis's PICO640 17-micron longwave Infrared (LWIR) detector for performance-driven thermal imaging.

Ulis (Veurey-Voroize, France), an infrared vision specialist that manufactures uncooled thermal sensors for civilian and military applications, has announced that Thermoteknix Systems (Cambridge, UK) has selected its PICO640 17-µm longwave Infrared (LWIR) detector for performance-driven thermal imaging equipment where size, weight, power consumption, and range are critical. Thermoteknix specializes in high-performance, low-power infrared engines for small- and large-volume integrators.

The PICO640 17-µm LWIR is a 640 × 480-pixel, video quality (VGA) focal plane array (FPA) that operates in the 8–12-µm IR waveband. The company says it has one of the smallest footprints in its product category, 24 × 24 mm2, and offers less than 0.160 W power consumption. It weighs less than 10 g and also has less than 10 ms of thermal time constant (response rate)—features that support 50-Hz portable thermal imaging applications, such as battery-powered cameras.
