VISION 2011 plans to bring together machine vision system integrators and end users

With the number of exhibitors now signed up forVISION 2011 running about 20% above last year at this time, expectations are high for another successful tradeshow, to be held again at Messe Stuttgart, 8 to 10 November. This year the Integration Area will show quality testing of micrometer structures, weld seam monitoring, and time-saving glass inspection.

“In the long term we want to create a platform at VISION that brings together system suppliers from the machine vision industry and end users who are looking for solutions for their application problems,” says Florian Niethammer, Project Manager for VISION at Messe Stuttgart. VISION 2011, International Trade Fair for Machine Vision, will therefore contain for the third time a thematically separate exhibition section, called the Integration Area, which is aimed at system integrators and solution providers.

This exhibition section has been well-received since a change in the visitor structure was identified last year. “More end users came to the trade fair, even purposefully with parts to be inspected,” adds Niethammer. "Around 25% of visitors at VISION 2010 also termed themselves end users."

System integrators will be on hand to explain how machine vision technologies can be used in application solutions in intelligent and different ways. “As a complete supplier of production line concepts, we develop tailor-made economic and technical solutions for automated production using state-of-the-art industrial machine vision technologies,” says Jürgen Kemenas from the Sales and Marketing Department of WENO Maschinenbau. The company will present the extension of the Microscopic Selective Inspection System (µ-SIS) at VISION 2011. “This system makes it possible to perform industrial quality tests with resolutions of less than 1 µm,” says Kemenas.

The company plasmo Industrietechnik will demonstrate competence in the area of real-time quality control for joining processes. The system integrator assists the end user from the definition of the testing task through to implementation of the test system; e.g. tailor-made solutions for laser power measurement, inspection of welding processes, or monitoring of weld seams, geometric forms, and surfaces.

Integrator CTMV also has many years of experience in the field of machine vision. “We supply tailor-made, turnkey solutions for optical testing tasks in the automotive, metal working, extrusion, glass, ceramics, material handling, and robotics industries,” saysKatrin Pape, Managing Director of CTMV. According to Pape, the focal point here is the development of test cells with, at times, special optical arrangements if accessibility is restricted. The portfolio of CTMV also includes application-specific software for complex test scenarios. One example is the optical inspection of industrial plate glass or glass objects for inclusions and bubbles from a size of 10 µm and, in particular, determinating the depth of foreign particles or layer transitions within the glass to around 100 µm precisely, depending on the material characteristics.

“The area for system integrators and solution providers promises to be one of the highlights of VISION 2011,” concludes Florian Niethammer.
