NEW PRODUCT PRESS RELEASE

Microscan’s Vision MINI Smart Camera a “Perfect Fit” for Clinical Instrument Manufacturers

RENTON, WA — Microscan, a global supplier of embedded barcode scanners and imagers for life sciences, announces the new Vision MINI smart camera. As the world’s smallest, fully integrated vision system, the ultra-compact Vision MINI is designed for reliable vision performance in embedded clinical and lab automation applications.

OEMs in clinical diagnostics and other life sciences are turning to machine vision to increase throughput and improve the accuracy of their instruments. Auto ID systems such as barcode readers have long been used for sample tracking and identification; the Vision MINI machine vision system takes this capability a step further by automating critical inspection tasks such as cap presence, color matching, and test tube identification in addition to reading 1D and 2D barcodes.

Measuring only 1.80 x 2.10 x 1.00" (WxLxH), the small form factor of the Vision MINI allows for flexible positioning in tight spaces. The compact smart camera features fully integrated lighting, autofocus lens, complete AutoVISION software tool set, and wide angle optics for close-range applications. The Vision MINI delivers high accuracy and reliability, along with the assurance of long term availability and support. This is essential for OEM manufacturers, who require uninterrupted availability throughout the life-cycle of their products, and enables them to focus on new development instead of obsolescence issues.
