NEW PRODUCT PRESS RELEASE

Teledyne DALSA Delivers Versatility with new Genie TS Cameras

WATERLOO, Ontario - Teledyne DALSA, a Teledyne Technologies company and a global leader in machine vision technology, has introduced the Genie TS series cameras. The Genie TS combines advancements in Teledyne DALSA's CMOS imaging sensor technology with a newly optimized camera series that delivers the widest, most powerful feature set ever in a GigE Vision camera.

The Genie TS series will include VGA, 1.2, 1.4, 2, 4, 5, 8 and 12 megapixel formats, reach speeds up to 300 fps and be available in both monochrome and color versions.

This next generation imaging platform is packed with advanced features such as image filtering, image compression, color correction, color space conversion, and image transfer-on-demand. Engineered to meet the ever increasing speed and image clarity requirements of machine vision, the Genie TS is the perfect blend of form and function for a wide-range of industrial applications including semiconductor, electronics, food, packaging and other manufacturing and assembly processes. All features are easily accessible with Teledyne DALSA's advanced software tools.

The Genie TS is also the first machine vision camera platform engineered for Intelligent Traffic/Transportation Systems (ITS) applications. Integrated performance and operational capabilities include remarkable dynamic range to optimize image capture from sun-to-shade, motorized lens control with image-to-image aperture, zoom and focus functionality, auto iris, and both RS-485 and RS-232 ports to control peripherals around the camera. These features are all built into a tough, compact body equipped with a GigE Vision-compliant, direct-to-PC interface which makes high speed data transfer and multi-camera networks easy to deploy. "What makes the Genie TS so versatile is its ability to meet the performance and operational requirements of a wide range of discrete applications," said Manny Romero, Genie product manager for Teledyne DALSA. "From the harsh environments of manufacture and assembly, to the ruggedized, critical performance requirements of transport and security, to the scientific clarity of bio-medical labs and semiconductor clean-rooms, the Genie TS series will accelerate application development, simplify deployment and optimize system management and maintenance."

GigE Vision
Like all Genie cameras, the Genie TS Series is GigE Vision-compliant, and is based on the AIA (Automated Imaging Association) GigE Vision Standard. This new series of Genie cameras takes full advantage of Gigabit Ethernet technology, transmitting data over standard CAT-5e and CAT-6 cables to distances of up to 100m allowing for a greater distance between the camera and inspection system. Teledyne DALSA continues to lead the deployment of the GigE Vision standard in terms of adopting the technology into their product development efforts.

Software Advantage
The Genie TS cameras are supported by Teledyne DALSA's Sapera Essential software and its Genie Framework package for fast and simple camera set-up - from initial set-up to grabbing images in minutes. Moreover, the Genie Framework employs Teledyne DALSA's advanced Trigger-to-Image Reliability engineering, significantly accelerating application development and deployment time by providing developers with a 360º view of the entire acquisition process.
