National Instruments (Nasdaq: NATI; Austin, TX, USA) cofounders Dr. James Truchard and Jeff Kodosky have been honored with the Woodrow Wilson Award for Corporate Citizenship by the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. Created by an Act of Congress in 1968, The Wilson Center is a non-partisan institution headquartered in Washington, D.C. and supported by both public and private funds. The award recognizes executives who, in their business practices and personal actions, show a deep concern for the common good beyond the bottom line.

NI has collaborated with FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), the LEGO Group, and universities to engage students with technology in hands-on activities, using NI hardware and software as part of the FIRST and LEGO robotics programs. NI employees also volunteer as classroom and after-school mentors to encourage students' interest in science, technology, engineering, and math.

Corporate responsibility efforts enable access to technology for engineers facing economic or otoher obstacles as well. Developing sustainable business practices and fostering a strong corporate culture are also among the goals for which Truchard and Kodosky have been awarded the honor.
