EMCCD camera from Nuvu has peak gain at 5000

April 2, 2012
Nüvü Cameras' EM N2 back-illuminated EMCCD camera features background noise below 0.001 electron/pixel/frame and an electron-multiplying gain peaking at 5000.

The EM N2 back-illuminated EMCCD camera features background noise below 0.001 electron/pixel/frame and an electron-multiplying gain peaking at 5000. It is used for molecular imaging, in vivo and in actio microscopy with biomarkers and fluorophores, quantitative confocal microscopy, and Raman imaging. Three standard models vary in frame size: 128 × 128 pixels (>500 frames/s), 512 × 512 pixels (>30 frames/s), and 1024 × 1024 pixels (>8 frames/s).

EMCCD Camera
Initially designed for astronomy, the EM N2 from Nüvü Camēras is the back illuminated EMCCD camera with the best signal-to-noise ratio on the market. With background noise below 0.001 electron/pixel/frame and an electron-multiplying gain peaking at 5000, the EM N2 can explore what has never been detected before in ultra low lighting conditions. This camera has unique advantages in fields such as molecular imaging, in vivo and in actio microscopy with biomarkers and fluorophores, quantitative confocal microscopy and Raman imaging. Its flexibility allows a radical enhancement of imaging systems simply by replacing the camera component to obtain more reliable raw images with lesser exposure times, hence faster acquisitions than typical cameras. The EM N2 is available in 3 standard models that vary in frame size: 128 × 128 (>500 fps), 512 × 512 (>30 fps) and 1024 × 1024 (>8 fps). Additionally, the camera is capable of binning for applications requiring even greater frame rates.
