Adding to its line of Grasshopper3 USB3 Vision cameras, Point Grey has announced the release of the GS3-U3-60QS6, which features a quad-tap CCD sensor. The 6 MPixel Sony ICX694 is a 1” EXView HAD CCD II sensor that has a 4.54 µm pixel size and can achieve a frame rate of 25 fps at full resolution. The quad-tap camera offers nearly double the frame rate compared tothe existing GS3-U3-60S6 dual-tap model, opening up potential applications in biometrics (such as eye tracking and iris recognition) factory automation (such as flat panel display inspection), 2D and 3D metrology, and life sciences. In addition, like all other Grasshopper3 models, the camera uses an image processing pipeline to enable color interpolation, look up table, gamma correction, pixel binning and USB3 Vision support.
