The Copenhagen, Denmark-based company has been reselling components and industrial vision systems for 29 years. Prior to the acquisition, the two companies were already familiar, as Image House had been distributing STEMMER components for many years.
In early 2014, STEMMER made a similar move, acquiring Parameter AB, an imaging and machine vision provider for Northern Europe and Poland. A Stockhold, Sweden-based company, Parameter AB had offices in Denmark, Finland, and Poland, and had been distributing machine vision components and systems since 1968. As was the case for the acquisition of Parameter, the acquistion of Image House makes sense for both companies, according to Hans Steenberg, founder of Image House, who will oversee the transfer to STEMMER and stay on as managing director until March 31, 2015.
"The acquisition of Image House A/S by STEMMER IMAGING has been under consideration for some time. It is an expected and natural move for STEMMER IMAGING after the acquisition of the similar company Parameter AB in Sweden", said Steenberg. "The employees of Image House A/S will find a new home in a bigger organization with the world´s largest portfolio of imaging products and services.”
For STEMMER, the Danish machine vision market represented a potential area of growth and expansion.
“Adding the machine vision expertise and the deep local Danish market know-how of the Image House experts will dramatically increase our presence and service offering in that country,” said Christof Zollitsch, Managing Director of the STEMMER IMAGING head office.
With the acquisition of Image House, STEMMER now has offices in 11 European countries, covering 19 sales regions.
