A new book written by software professional Ashwin Pajankar takes a look at the vast opportunities that Raspberry Pi and Python create in the world of computer vision, including the design and development of webcam and Raspberry Pi-based applications.

The book, which is intended for novices and seasoned Raspberry Pi and Python enthusiasts interested in computer vision, offers ample screenshots and a detailed description on how to implement computer vision fundamentals and applications. Readers with very little programming or coding/scripting experience can create image processing and computer vision applications with relatively few lines of code in Python, according to the Packt Publishing.

Additionally, the book will provide readers with the skills needed to design and implement your own embedded vision projects based on Raspberry Pi and Python. It explains how to set up your Raspberry Pi for the applications, exploring the basics of OpenCV, and how to design and implement real-life vision applications on your own. By working through the steps in each chapter, readers will be able to master the features of OpenCV, as well as learn about SimpleCV, another computer vision library.
