STEMMER IMAGING has extended its machine vision software library Common Vision Blox (CVB) with the release of the new CVB Polimago Tool, which enables pattern recognition and pose estimation at high speeds.
Pattern recognition is a common and significant task in machine vision, and is used in a variety of applications. Successful pattern recognition, according to STEMMER, largely depends on the variability of the teaching model. If geometrical transformations such as rotation, size changes, tilting, and changes in illumination have not been taught during the teaching phase, the recognition rate decreases in a later stage of the process.
CVB Polimago saves users time during the teaching phase via analgorithm that generates artificial views of the model to simulate various positions of a component in real life. In this way, the algorithm learns the variability of the corresponding pattern which enables a reliable identification of the training image at a higher recognition rate even in different views.
The new CVB tool—which can be used for pattern recognition, pose estimation, and object tracking—is offered as a module of the existing CVB library. A software license for CVB Polimago will be available for purchase soon, and Common Vision Blox version “CVB 2016 MultiOs, which includes full compliance with USB3 Vision and Linux and operability on ARM and Intel platforms in addition to CVB Polimago and an enhanced version of the CVB Barcode tool, will be available in Q3.
