Machine vision software company MVTec has announced the opening of a new headquarters facility near the Hirschgarten Park in Munich, while also celebrating the 20th anniversary of teh company.

Machine vision software company MVTec has announced the opening of a new headquarters facility near the Hirschgarten Park in Munich.

Over the last five years, MVTec has doubled its numbers of total employees, and as a result, the HALCON and MERLIC software developer was forced to move to a larger facility. This move comes right on the heels of the company celebrating its 20th anniversary with the coming of the New Year.

MVTec has made a number of announcements recently, including the news of an increased collaboration with SICK AG in an effort to increase the range of different application areas. In addition to its own algorithms, SICK will be using the HALCON image processing library for vision sensors, 3D cameras, and vision systems. Until now, cooperation between the two companies had been limited to 3D cameras, but now, it will be expanded to include various sensors in SICK’s vision sector.

Additionally, MVTec released the second version of its MERLIC machine vision software solution in Austria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, and the United States. In addition to faster speeds, MERLIC 2 will feature the MERLIC Engine interface, which enables users to create MERLIC applications using the MERLIC Backend and then directly load, parametrize, and execute them within their C++ or C# framework. An ActiveX control element displays a user interface that was previously created with MERLIC Designer in the development environment, allowing changes and their impact on the user frontend to be checked directly.
