GigE Vision over NBASE-T platform launched by Pleora

March 1, 2016
Pleora has announced the launch of a platform of NBASE-T (an extension of the IEEE 802.3 Ethernet standard) products that transmits uncompressed high-bandwidth GigE Vision-compliant images at speeds up to 5 Gb/s over low-cost Cat 5e cabling.

The first release in the platform is a development kit for GigE NBASE-T imaging or camera design, with an embedded interface, reference design, and IP core to follow. The GigE Vision over NBASE-T development kit contains an NBASE-T development board, fully assembled with Pleora’s Camera Link adapter board.

By installing the NBASE-T NIC and the software, connecting the Ethernet cable to the development kit board and the computer, and connecting the supply power—users can evaluate and develop an NBASE-T imaging solution. The development kit will be available to early adopters in May 2016, with additional platform products introduced through the calendar year.
