Smart Vision Lights has announced the expansion of its European and Asian sales and support operations with the opening of a new United Kingdom office and the addition of a machine vision industry veteran.

Assuming the position of business development manager for Europe and Asia will be Tony Carpenter (pictured), who has spent the last 35-plus years in technical sales positions in companies such as Marconi, Bicc-Vero, FKI, Dowty, Texas Instruments, Teradyne, and Infrared Integrated Systems. Carpenter’s experience in the machine vision industry came while working on the management team at Gardasoft, where he helped grow the company’s European and Asian presence. Carpenter, who resides in Northamptonshire in the East Midlands of England, has a background in electronics and electrical engineering, including a Scottish Technical Education Council (SCOTEC) certificate from Lauder Technical College in Dunfermline, Scotland.

"We’re very pleased to have someone of Tony Carpenter’s caliber heading up our European and Asian expansion efforts," said David Spaulding, president of Smart Vision Lights. "Tony represents Smart Vision Lights’ ongoing commitment and increased investment in European and Asian machine vision, intelligent transportation, and related markets."
