Embedded vision and 3D Time of Flight cameras from Basler presented live at VISION 2016

First, Tiarks provided a look at the company’s 3D Time of Flight (ToF) demonstration, which was capturing live footage at the show, allowing visitors to interact with the camera. The company’s 3D ToF camera, which has VGA resolution, is able to deliver a 2D image and a 3D point cloud at the same time. Basler used four of its ToF cameras positioned around its booth to create 360° images of people.

He then provided some information on some of the latest CMOS sensors that Basler is using, including the PYTHON CMOS sensors from ON Semiconductor and the Pregius CMOS sensors from Sony. Lastly, he discussed the hot topic of embedded vision, noting that the company developed its dart series of cameras as a result of this trend. These board-level cameras are already shipping, and can be deployed in a number of embedded applications, according to Tiarks.
