MVTec Software has appointed Torsten Wiesinger as its new sales director, responsible for the global sales activities for MERLIC and HALCON machine vision software.

MVTec Software has appointed Torsten Wiesinger as its new sales director, responsible for the global sales activities for the provider of machine vision software out of Munich, Germany.

In his previous role, Wiesinger was CEO of IDS Imaging Development Systems, a global manufacturer of industrial cameras. With his hiring, according to MVTec, the company places an emphasis on global growth while factoring in the importance of machine vision as a future-oriented technology in both industrial and non-industrial applications.

"With the addition of Torsten Wiesinger, our company has gained a very experienced and well connected industry insider. His strong leadership and sales expertise will help us continue our course of successful expansion and further strengthen our position as an internationally recognized key player in the machine vision industry," said Dr. Olaf Munkelt, Managing Director of MVTec.

At MVTec, Wiesinger will manage international sales of the company’s MERLIC software, as well as sales activities for HALCON.

Wiesinger commented: "With HALCON and MERLIC and the related services, MVTec Software GmbH has excellent potential for growth in the area of Industrial Internet of Things. I am very much looking forward to the new and exciting experiences that go along with a hardware-independent pure software and service provider."
