For the 29th year in a row, electronic imaging professionals from around the globe—including researchers, developers, and entrepreneurs—will gather at the Society for Imaging Sciences and Technology (IS&T) Electronic Imaging Show, which will be held January 29 - February 2 just outside of San Francisco.

Electronic Imaging 2017 (EI2017) will offer 18 technical conferences within the following eight topic areas:

  • Human perception and cognition for emerging technologies
  • Image capture systems
  • Image reproduction and material appearance
  • Technology and media security
  • Image and video processing, quality, and systems
  • Virtual and augmented reality, 3D, and stereoscopic systems
  • Real-time image and video
  • Web and mobile imaging and visualization

Conferences within these areas include popular topics such as color imaging, image processing and algorithms, 3D imaging, autonomous vehicles, and robotics.

EI2017 will also feature 22 short courses in its EI Symposium, which is a series of two and four-hour classes taught by experts from around the globe. Course range from introductory to advanced in nature, allowing attendees the opportunity to explore new areas, or gain more depth in others. Among the topics covered are image quality testing, deep learning, 3D imaging, high dynamic range imaging, CMOS sensor technology, and more.

Furthermore, EI2017 will feature three plenary talks that cover3D computational microscopy, virtual reality/360° virtual reality from speakers coming from the University of California Berkeley, Stanford University, and Facebook.

There are also a number of special events taking place at the show, which are as follows:

  • Electronic Imaging Exhibition: Scientists, researchers, product and process design engineers, product developers, and system integrators in electronic imaging related fields will showcase the latest products and services during the two-day exhibit.
  • Demonstration Session: EI authors are invited to participate in the annual Demonstration Session where they can showcase software programs, products, and hardware to all Electronic Imaging attendees during an evening program.
  • Women in Electronic Imaging Luncheon: The 3rd Annual Women in Electronic Imaging Luncheon will offer women at all levels of their career the opportunity to meet with other women working throughout the many facets of electronic imaging.
  • Meet the Future: A Showcase of Student and Young Professionals Research: This 1st annual event brings invited students together with academic and industry representatives who may have opportunities to offer, and will provide each student with an opportunity to present and discuss their academic work via an interactive poster session.
