At Automate 2017, ZEISS will showcase its new ZEISS AIMax cloud optical 3D sensor, which is designed for robot-based 3D in-line metrology in the fields of sheet metal processing and car body construction. The sensor generates 3D point clouds directly at the production line and measures complex features in short time. The sensor, according to ZEISS, can be used both in-line and at-line in robot-based 3D metrology, and with feature extraction, in the point cloud, offers faster speeds and greater use of ease than traditional image processing.
