With the introduction of Open eVision 2.0, Euresys has added a new library, EasyOCR2, as well as a number of other changes and simplifications of the licensing system. EasyOCR2 is a new optical character recognition (OCR) library, which includes new features such as an optimization for reading short texts—including part numbers, serial numbers, and expiration dates—as well as a segmentation algorithm to automatically locate text in an image based on expected character size and text topology, and full support for text rotation (360°). Additionally, with Open eVision 2.0, licenses become independent of the revision number, so all Open eVision licenses from Open eVision 1.2 will work with revisions of Open eVision 1.2 and above.
