Nobody wants to open a package or container of food to find that it is moldy or rotten. On top of that, food suppliers want to maintain brand integrity, and avoid releasing products with incorrect or skewed labels. In order to ensure that these things don’t happen, many companies have turned to machine vision as a substitution for human visual inspection, which in many cases has sped up the process while also improving reliability and accuracy. This slideshow takes a look at six applications in which machine vision technologies were used to automate food inspection.
