Vision system helps ensure product packaging of cheddar cheese

A lot goes into producing cheese at this volume, including the proper vacuum sealing of the finished product. If cheese is not sealed properly, it will result in mold growth during the maturation period, and the resulting cost of recovering any contaminated cheese would be significant. In order to ensure the effectiveness of the vacuum and heat sealing processes, UK-based Dairy Crest, produces more than 48,000 tons of cheese per year, which worked together with AutoCoding Systems to develop an automated vision system which can analyze, identify, and reject any blocks of 20kg cheese which have not been sealed correctly. >>>Read more.
