letting go. Microscan's blog is not controlled information and that is
one of its best elements. We want Microscan employees to feel empowered
to share from their own experiences and expertise directly, and this has
resulted in some really good technical discussions on topics such as
OCR/ OCV, Verficiation, and GigE machine vision.

We try to be
open and post whatever is interesting to machine vision users and in
particular the Scorpion Vision user. The heart of these blogs are the
http://tordivelblog.wordpress.com. We are committed to continue blogging
because we believe it is an important media. The blogs is the most
updated information about Tordivel and Scorpion Vision.

And
your editorial about the role Machine Vision is playing in "daring
to go where no man" can -- i.e. "Hurt Locker" to
radioactive sites to the depths of the ocean -- was quite timely.

exhibited our machine vision solutions at The Vision Show . We were
very impressed by the number of serious individuals seeking specific
solutions to their challenges. Everyone is looking for ways to improve
their products, become more efficient, and competitive. Overall, we were
impressed and see this as a growing trend and look forward to more shows
in the future.

A constant figure in the machine vision business, we
will miss him. Best wishes to Anne and their children and grandchildren
- they can all feel very proud of Don's achievements and the fact he
will be well remembered in the industry. And thanks to Conard for the
above summary. Colin Pearce, CEO, Active Silicon.

power :) - but I protest wildly about the claim that the software is
expensive - it is a bargain! With the new Scorpion Vision 9.0 it starts
to deliver at 100 euro with the new invention Scorpion Mono Stinger and
Scorpion Vision Apps - in the new pricelist for Scorpion SmartCam the
prices is reduced by more than 30%. At last but not the least it can be
used with free OpenCV library. All in all the best value!

consumers see who's responsible for the food they buy. We're focused on
whole foods, lightly processed foods, and beverages first, aiming to
empower great food producers who want a cheap and easy way to take
advantage of location aware mobile phone, social media platforms, and QR
codes all in one ready-made solution. Would love your feedback!

information should be open. This discussion is no different than for any
other industry though. Intel certainly isn't out publishing and teaching
how to duplicate their results when they get 20% more junctions in the
same sized CPU die and with less power. Just for the advancement of all
CCD technology, Kodak certainly doesn't make its art public when they
achieve better performance in a 5.5 uM pixel than they could previously
in a larger 7.4 uM pixel. This is no different for machine vision
builders or system integrators. Knowledge is hard fought and expensive
to gain. Experience is invaluable. Achieving a system result which has
maesurable performance advantage is the pinnacle of their art. Why would
they publish and offer this for free? Other than publicly funded
reasearch in national labs, NASA, DARPA or similar, there is no
"free communication" at this level in other industries. The
lesson here is simple. It is leaders and innovators who further the
technology fronts and achieve the top performance. It's not follwers who
duplicate. Duplication of systems and techniques expands the vision
frontier, but doesn't advance the frontier. Advancement comes at a
higher cost. The individuals you have on your team make the difference,
not articles on paper. Companies need to value experienced and
knowledgable workers for the difference they can make directly to the
end result.
