VSD's Machine Vision Summit Debuts May 22-23

May 7, 2024
Free online event offers educational sessions, curated keynotes on important industry trends, developments, and technologies.

Vision Systems Design hosts its inaugural Machine Vision Summit May 22-23.

The Summit, a free online event, will feature educational sessions and curated keynotes covering a wide range of topics of interest in machine vision today, including how the combination of AI and machine vision is enabling exciting new applications in areas such as inspection, bin picking and sorting, optical character recognition (OCR), and more. In addition, the conference will cover areas such as how new technologies in visible and invisible light spectrums are helping to solve challenges in manufacturing and logistics automation.

Four featured keynotes, moderated by VSD Editor in Chief Linda Wilson, are scheduled over the course of the summit:

  • Ronald Müller, Managing Director, Vision Markets, will deliver a presentation titled: The Global Machine Vision Market—Growth Areas and Innovation Trends. He will discuss industry sectors and regions offering attractive business opportunities as well as key innovation trends set to drive growth and competitiveness for OEMs, systems integrators, and machine builders.

  • Sina Afrooze, CEO/Co-Founder, Apera AI, will discuss how AI is making vision-guided robotics more useful for manufacturers and recent innovations in AI training and simulation environments and what they mean and what they can provide for automation engineers.
  • Mark DeSantis, CEO, Bloomfield Robotics, will discuss imaging and AI trends in agriculture and how those technologies underpin the fact that the way forward for today’s farmer is not necessarily in how they manage acreage, but how they manage each individual plant.
  • Jared Glover, CEO/Co-Founder, CapSen Robotics, will discuss the pros and cons of “black box AI“ software and how programmable AI leverages the latest advances in black box AI within a constrained framework that gives the user control—and peace of mind that the robot will work exactly as programmed every time.

In addition, the following informative sessions will be held throughout the course of the summit, with the following topics and speakers:

Wednesday, May 22

  • Machine Vision Lighting for Evolving High Speed Imaging Needs, Steve Kinney, Director of Training, Compliance, and Technical Solutions, Smart Vision Lights
  • Approaches to Solving Challenging Vision Inspection Problems, Hubert Kostal, VP, Business Development, Radiant Vision Systems
  • Advanced Sensing with LUCID Vision Labs’ latest SWIR and UV cameras, Performance Cameras, Software, and Systems for AI and Machine Learning Applications, Alexis Teissie, Sr. Product Manager, LUCID Vision Labs
  • Making AI Easier to Simulate and Deploy for Vision Guided Robotics, John Ilett, President/Founder/CTO, Emergent Vision Technologies

Thursday

  • Advantages and Applications of Hyperspectral Imaging for Industrial Machine Vision, Matthieu Marmion, Ph.D, Lead Application Specialist, Specim
  • Exploring Depth: Stereo Cameras with FRAMOS D400e and Intel RealSense, Sam Leboe, Product manager, FRAMOS
  • The Power of Zebra’s Deep Learning-Based OCR, Armando Lopez, Fixed Industrial Scanning & Machine Vision Specialist, Zebra Technologies

Sponsored by Emergent Vision Technologies, Framos, LUCID Vision labs, Radiant Vision Systems, Smart Vision Lights, Specim, and Zebra Technologies, the summit is geared toward professionals who are in design and development/systems integration, engineering management, quality control, research and development, manufacturing/production engineering, and corporate management.
