JANUARY 5--Nallatech Inc. (Baltimore, MD; www.nallatech.com), a supplier of high-performance field-programmable-gate-array (FPGA) systems, has announced a series of moves aimed at addressing growing opportunities in the FPGA arena. Ed Hennessy, who heads up North American operations for Nallatech, joined the company earlier this fall after serving in senior management positions with Mercury Computer Systems, SKY Computers, Analogic Corporation, and Dy 4 Systems.

The company announced that Jim Mazzola and Paul Houlihan--two veterans of the high-performance computing business--have joined as regional sales managers of the North American team, which also includes regional sales manager Jon Mudrick and experienced system engineers. The company has established offices in key metropolitan areas across the USA: Baltimore, Phoenix, Philadelphia, and Boston.

Paul Houlihan, who has nearly 30 years computing sales experience, will lead sales and customer service initiatives in all Western markets. Houlihan will be based in Nallatech's Phoenix, AZ, office. Previously, Houlihan was regional sales manager for SKY Computers and has held positions with Thales Computers, Lockheed Martin, LSI Logic, and Texas Instruments.

Jim Mazzola, a computing sales executive for more than two decades, will oversee Eastern markets from Nallatech's Philadelphia, PA, office. Mazzola most recently managed Eastern regional sales for Themis Computers. Mazzola specializes in the telecom and military market segments and has held sales management positions with Force Computers and Motorola Computer Group.

Regional sales manager Jon Mudrick is focused on federal systems and the Southeastern region from the US group sales office in Baltimore. Mudrick brings more than 17 years of engineering design and sales experience in the military and aerospace industries. He has served in sales for companies including Altera, Motorola Computer Group, Radstone, and Pentek and has held design engineering and management positions at Martin Marietta and Avnet Electronics.

Nallatech doubled total sales worldwide in 2003, and more than 50% of revenues were generated in US markets. "The attractive cost, flexibility, and performance offered by FPGAs is redefining high-performance computing, and Nallatech is taking a lead in addressing this evolving market opportunity," said Ed Hennessy, VP business development for Nallatech. "Our new North American management team has the experience Nallatech needs to help our customers realize the benefits of FPGAs and reconfigurable compute technology."
