AUGUST 17--Redlake MASD (San Diego, CA;www.redlake.com), a provider of high-speed and high-resolution cameras, has entered into an agreement with General Motors Corporation to be the exclusive provider of high-speed cameras for vehicle crash, sled, and impact testing. The contract, valued at more than $5 million, has General Motors taking delivery of numerous Redlake HG Series cameras including the HG-100K, HG-TH, and HG-LE.

General Motors (GM) conducts extensive crash, sled, and impact testing at its component testing labs. Through the use of high-speed, high-resolution cameras, GM is able to further its ability to improve motor-vehicle safety for its customers. With the HG-100K providing high resolution, the HG-TH offering multiple heads, and the HG-LE providing good performance and value, Redlake was able to meet all of GM's diverse camera needs.

General Motors underwent a thorough evaluation process, which focused on the following key criteria: price, performance, technical capability, and service. Redlake's HG Series of cameras successfully met the company's requirements in every area. In addition, the versatility offered with the tethered-head design of the HG-TH was an important factor. The ability of the small lightweight camera heads to fit into confined spaces and onto low-mass mounting surfaces allows GM to see safety-critical interactions in areas never before seen during impacts.

Redlake's HG Series of cameras are specifically designed for such applications as vehicle impact testing, airbag deployment, component safety testing, research, design and test, production and manufacturing, and range, aerospace, and ballistics. Resolutions range from 1000 frames/s at full resolution up to 100,000 frames/s at reduced resolutions. The rugged design of the HG Series allows it to withstand up to 100 G in any axis.
