DECEMBER 15--Exacq Technologies (Indianapolis, IN) has introduced a new generation of MPEG-4 CCTV DVR boards designed to create higher-performance, lower-cost, and smaller footprint CCTV DVRs. The Exacq eDVR board is a complete security system on a board, incorporating on-board hardware compression and decompression for enterprise-class performance on a low-cost PC. The highly integrated eDVR includes 16 video inputs for 480 ips recording (400 ips PAL), two video outputs, audio I/O, alarm I/O, UART-enabled RS-232/485 for PTZ/POS/ATM interface, hardware watchdog, button input, relay and LED outputs, temperature sensor, and EEPROM for configuration and security settings.

A software developer's kit enables easy implementation into existing DVR, NVR, and video analytic applications. The eDVR incorporates on-board hardware compression and decompression, enabling a true 480 ips record + display regardless of processor load. Real-time video records and displays on every channel so no activity is ever missed. Hardware compression means a high-performance, responsive DVR can be built using only a low-speed Celeron-class host processor, reducing overall cost and heat generation.

The eDVR also provides real-time video acquisition into host RAM with callback notification, designed specifically for intelligent motion and behavior tracking (video analytic) applications. Because the host CPU is largely unused in the process of compressing and recording video, it can be devoted to video analytic applications, enabling a single system to perform both DVR and video analytic functions, reducing overall cost.

Robust OSD and graphics on video outputs include definable fonts, colors, points, lines, borders, enabling extreme flexibility in designing DVR GUIs. The eDVR has been designed to accommodate various cabling options, connectors, and panels, enabling implementation in everything from standard rack-mount chassis to low-profile and mobile chassis. A complete SDK is included with every eDVR utilizing cross-platform tools with extensive sample code in C, WxWidgets, VB.net, and C#.
