MARCH 29--Basler (Ahrensburg, Germany; www.basler-vc.com) will be introducing two new camera families--Basler Scout and Basler Pioneer--at the Vision Show East (May 9--11, Boston, MA). The cameras feature Gigabit Ethernet and FireWire-b interfaces and are equipped with a selection of CCD sensors ranging in size from VGA to 2 Mpixels.

The Basler Scout family is based on a selection of Sony CCD sensors and offers a variety of resolutions and speeds. The Basler Pioneer camera family is based on Kodak CCD sensors. For more flexibility, this series offers additional software features that can be integrated into the image-processing software on a remote computer.

Both camera families will feature a GenICam-compliant API and will use new drivers. The FireWire-b cameras will also be compatible with Basler's existing BCAM driver and API for FireWire cameras. Along with the drivers, GUI-based software lets users set camera parameters, adjust image quality, and control cameras from a remote computer. These camera families will be compatible with all common software libraries. The cameras are designed for all machine vision and medical applications, as well as for use in intelligent traffic systems.
