MAY 10, 2007--Trident Exhibitions Limited (Tavistock, Devon, UK; www.tridentexhibitions.co.uk) has announced the sale of its four manufacturing and technology exhibitions to Canon Communications (Los Angeles, CA, USA; www.canontradeshows.com). The shows that have been sold are
* IPOT, Machine Vision and Displays Technology: the complete resource for optical, photonics, vision, and displays technology
* MTEC: focuses on sensors, measurement and instrumentation technology
* Machine Building, Drives & Automation: the definitive event for design-build technologies and systems integrators
* Practical Vacuum: covers all aspects of vacuum technology and semiconductor processing.

The collocation of these events alongside the Canon-owned MEDTEC UK and 3C has successfully demonstrated the natural affinity and synergy between and among all six events. Canon Communications said it plans to further develop, position, and promote the shows as a coordinated, full-featured, total resource for the UK's advanced design and manufacturing industries. The first shows to be held under Canon ownership will take place February 13—14, 2008, at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, UK.

Helen Thewlis, Trident Managing Director, said, "It is obviously sad to say goodbye to exhibitions we have known and developed over the years. However, we will still keep our involvement in the market through our regional shows, which are the three Instrumentation Series events and Displays Technology South."
