The organizers of the VISION show have cancelled VISION 2013 in a move that will now see the show take place just once every two years.

According to Patrick Schwarzkopf, Head of the VDMA Machine Vision Association, the professional and promotional supporter of the VISION show, the decision was made as the result of requests made by many exhibitors.

The change will also mean that the VISION show will now be permanently staged in Hall 1, the L-Bank Forum, which would not have been possible had the show been staged every year.

"VISION is and will remain the undisputed world's leading trade fair. This step will consolidate and extend its market position," said Dr. Dietmar Ley, chairman of the board of camera maker Basler.

Dr. Klaus-Henning Noffz, managing partner of Silicon Software, was somewhat less enthusiastic. "The previous annual cycle was ideal for us and many other exhibitors. Nevertheless, we support the decision to change to a biennial cycle," he said.
