A collaboration between American Infrared Solutions (AIRS) and AIM Infrarot-Module (AIM), will bring cooled infrared imaging solutions to industrial and Department of Defense customers in the United States.

AIRS, a developer of infrared imaging products, puts a particular focus on tactical cooled long wave infrared (LWIR) products, whereas AIM develops and manufacturers infrared detectors, thermal sights, and cooling engines. AIM has been developing and delivering IR components to the US Forces and major US system houses for more than 30 years. To extend the business into new markets, AIM looked to partner with a company capable of providing infrared technology in the US to add value to its FPAs, coolers, and other IR products, according to Wolfgang Cabanski, CEO of AIM.

This collaboration will pave the way for solutions which will fill product and technology gaps that currently exist in the infrared market, according to the press release.

"The integration of AIM’s MCT FPAs and subsystems, along with our existing T2SLS FPA based products, will enable AIRS to offer a broader solution set to our customers," said Dan Manitakos, President of AIRS.

He added, "Furthermore, it is clear that both AIRS and AIM cultures are dominated by an increasingly rare passion for infrared, creating a mutual foundation for a strong relationship."
