New Scale Technologies releases all-in-one smart focus module

Designed as a drop-in replacement for the company’s original M3-F focus module, the M3-FS smart focus module is a miniature all-in-one (no external control board needed) focus module designed for industrial, medical, and scientific OEM cameras that offers a 3x improvement in dynamic tilt and linear accuracy.  

Designed as a drop-in replacement for the company’s original M3-F focus module, the M3-FS smart focus module is a miniature all-in-one (no external control board needed) focus module designed for industrial, medical, and scientific OEM cameras that offers a 3x improvement in dynamic tilt and linear accuracy. (Linear accuracy of +/- 12 µm and dynamic tilt of <+/- 0.05°). The M3-FS is an M16x1mm lens type, but accepts M12x0.5mm with standard adapter. It features a 17 x 17 mm image sensor area, a lens position resolution of 0.5 µm, embedded closed-loop control, and New Scale Technologies' proprietary SQUIGGLE piezo motor, drive, sensing, guide and control technologies. The module takes motion commands from the camera processor and operates on 3.3 VDC. In addition, the module includes New Scale Pathway software and a USB adapter to connect the module to a PC for evaluation and system development.
