Startup company Seek Thermal has released a MicroUSB or Lighting connector-based thermal imaging camera that connects directly to your iPhone or Android device (Largely iPhone and Samsung Galaxy models, see here), effectively converting it into an infrared camera. The camera features a 206 x 156 VOx uncooled microbolometer detector with a 12 µm x 12 µm pixel pitch. It offers a 36° field of view, magnesium housing, and a Chalcogenide lens, while achieving long wave infrared sensitivity in the 7.2 µm to 13 µm range. In addition to perhaps finding fun ways to use the infrared camera on your own, Seek Thermal suggests that it could be used for security/surveillance, home inspection (heat loss), maintenance, cooking, measurement, and outdoor applications.
