With Basler’s newly-launched Lens Selector, users can quickly identify a suitablemachine vision lens with the right focal length for their area scan camera application.

Based on the particularBasler camera’s sensor data, the Lens Selector tool proposes a set of suitable lenses that fit with the size and resolution of the image sensor. While the tool is built around a set of complex calculations, Basler suggests that it is remarkably easy to use. In order to see examples of potential lens fits, users enter pertinent data for their application (including necessary angle of view, working distance, object size, and so on).) The tool then calculates the necessarily focal length and proposes options.

In addition to the Lens Selector tool, Basler also has a Camera Selector and an Interface Advisor tool. For the Camera Selector, users can provide parameters for resolution, sensor technology, and optics and the selector then suggests suitablecamera models (Including area scan, line scan, and network camera models.) For the Interface Advisor tools, users can find a suitable camera interface based on criteria such as cable lengths, available bandwidth, plug and play relevance, expectations of real-time performance, and system costs.

Lens options in the tool include models from Basler, Computar, Edmund Optics, Ricoh, and Kowa.
