Poll: Machine vision market headed for new heights

Since around the time of the VISION show, I’ve been writing plenty about the state of the machine vision industry, and where it may be headed in the future. Before going to the show, I had read a number of reports from individual companies, as well as those from organizations like the AIA and VDMA, but in order to get a feel for what others in the industry were thinking, I made sure to bring it up to everyone I met with at in Stuttgart.

The results were enormously positive. Everyone I spoke with seemed to be optimistic that the industry (and sales) would grow going into 2015. These weren’t just people from North America and Germany, either. I met with folks from England, France, Belgium, Italy, South Korea, Israel, Scotland, India, and more. In other words, I was able to get a more “global perspective,” even if it was just a microcosm of an overall snapshot.

So in an effort to gain further perspective on the question, I put a poll up on our website and as it turns out, the results are the same. Of the 52 respondents, 43 (83%) indicated that they thought the machine vision market would grow in 2015, while 9 (17%), did not think it would.

So there you have it. Most people, it would seem, are optimistic about machine vision sales in 2015. Now we just have to hope everyone was right!
