Remembering David Muyskens – President of Spectrum Illumination

Every company needs a “front man.” That is, someone you know you can trust, someone who is the face at every trade show you visit, someone who loves the products they have developed, can explain how they work, why they are needed, and how they can be used.

Every company needs a "front man." That is, someone you know you can trust, someone who is the face at every trade show you visit, someone who loves the products they have developed, can explain how they work, why they are needed, and how they can be used.

I’ve attended a lot of trade shows and there are very few of these people that you can rely on for an up-front, honest interview. One of them was the late David Muyskens, President of Spectrum Illumination (Montague, MI, USA; www.spectrumillumination.com) who passed away this month at the age of 51.

At a trade show, you can always recognize a Spectrum Illumination booth—a unique futuristic creation that I would like to think was inspired by Dave himself. It was still there at Automate 2015 this week where his employees were only too willing to carry on Dave’s tradition of enthusiasm for the lighting products and the legacy that his company created.

On behalf of the staff at Vision Systems Design, I would like to pass on our deepest condolences to the Muyskens family.
