On Vision Systems Design, we generally talk aboutunmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), or drones, in a positive light. That is, we talk about how UAVs can open up new applications in security and surveillance, agricultural imaging, aerial photography and videography, aerial mapping, and much, much more.
But one thing we don’t often mention is the fact that the word "drones" in and of itself is seen as somewhat of a pejorative. Specifically, the use of military drones is something that is perhaps looked at with fear or trepidation, and perhaps rightly so. That’s not the case here, however, as a Reaper military drone is being used near Lake Tahoe in California to find a missing schoolteacher.
