Matrox Imaging celebrates 25th anniversary

MAY 31--On May 25, the Matrox group of companies marked 25 years of producing reliable and cost-effective imaging, graphics, and video products for worldwide markets. The original company was founded by Lorne Trottier and Branko Matic. Says president Trottier, "Our success is due to our dedicated employees and their ability to look ahead and develop innovative products that surpass the competition in quality, performance, and value."

During the past quarter-century, Matrox has released several milestone products:

Video RAM (1976).

Mutibus-compatible RGB-Graph color graphics and frame grabber card set (1982).

PIP-512 PC-based frame grabber (1985).

Image Series modular image-processing platform (1989).

Hardware-independent software library and meteor and Pulsar PCI frame grabbers (1993).

Genesis vision processors (1996).

Since then, Matrox Imaging (Dorval, QC, Canada; www.matrox.com/imaging/news/25years.htm) has unveiled the 4Sight line of industrial vision computers and frame grabbers for IEEE-1394 and Camera Link interfaces. It has evolved into a $70 million division of Matrox Electronic Systems Ltd.
