MAY 31--On May 25, the Matrox group of companies marked 25 years of producing reliable and cost-effective imaging, graphics, and video products for worldwide markets. The original company was founded by Lorne Trottier and Branko Matic. During the past quarter-century, Matrox has released several milestone products:

Video RAM (1976).

Mutibus-compatible RGB-Graph color graphics and frame grabber card set (1982).

PIP-512 PC-based frame grabber (1985).

Image Series modular image-processing platform (1989).

Hardware-independent software library and meteor and Pulsar PCI frame grabbers (1993).

Genesis vision processors (1996).

Since then, Matrox Imaging (Dorval, QC, Canada; www.matrox.com/imaging/news/25years.htm) has unveiled the 4Sight line of industrial vision computers and frame grabbers for IEEE-1394 and Camera Link interfaces. It has evolved into a $70 million division of Matrox Electronic Systems Ltd.
