JULY 13--Sky Computers Inc., a subsidiary of Analogic Corp. (Chelmsford, MA; www.skycomputers.com), and the Defence Evaluation and Research Agency (DERA; an agency of the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence) have entered into a strategic alliance to jointly provide real-time data-processing systems. Sky will provide the COTS processing engines and subsystems. The DERA will provide application-based solutions consisting of Sky Computers' content, data-acquisition systems, and applications software for radar and electro-optic sensor solutions.

Says Mike Drake, Sky's director of international sales and business development, "Our relationship with the DERA will help to fulfill the ever-growing customer need for more complete systems. Gone are the days when just delivering hardware was enough. Today's sophisticated customers require that applications code be delivered with the machine.
