OCTOBER 10--The multifaceted Photon02 event, scheduled for 2-5 September 2002 at the Cardiff International Arena, will provide a showcase of leading research conferences, industrial implementations, and applications served by the UK optics and photonics industry, bringing together researchers, developers, applications engineers, manufacturers, distributors, and users from academia and industry. Incorporated within the event will be the Institute of Physics Applied Optics & Optoelectronics Conference of the Applied Optics Division, as well as a special conference organized by the Institute`s Quantum Electronics and Photonics group. Complementing these conferences will be a comprehensive program of industry-led seminars, workshops, and one-day meetings.

Within Photon02 will be the Photonex exhibition. Having grown steadily from its conception in 1992, Photonex 2002 will showcase the latest products, systems, and services for optics, photonics, display, fiber, imaging, lasers, optoelectronics, and telecom.

Photon 02 is supported by the UK Department of Trade & Industry and the EPSRC, as well as all the key UK organizations representing optics and photonics researchers, manufacturers, distributors, and users.
