Analogix Semiconductor and Genesis Microchip demonstrate Displayport interface

OCTOBER 26--Analogix Semiconductor (Santa Clara, CA; www.analogix.com) and Genesis Microchip (www.gnss.com) have announced that they successfully demonstrated the DisplayPort interface prototype to the Display Systems Committee of VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association). The DisplayPort interface specification, presented for ratification in August 2005 by VESA, provides a high-quality digital interface for video and audio content with optional secure content protection in a highly extensible format. This enables a wide range of source and display devices to be simply and securely connected.

In addition to the DisplayPort transmitter IP core, Analogix also announced it will begin sampling its ANX9801 DisplayPort Transmitter ICs in Q1 2006. Its products include cost-effective HDMI, DisplayPort, backplane and system interconnect, and long-range Ethernet PHY devices.
