Sherwood Technology changes its name to DataLase

JANUARY 16--Sherwood Technology (Widnes, Cheshire, UK) is changing its name to DataLase, effective immediately. The company, originator of the DataLase process that uses a combination of color change chemistry and low-power laser light for a range of applications, has adopted the name of its DataLase brand. The move results from the success of the brand and also coincides with the opening of a new US facility in Q1 2006.

This move is a precursor to the launch of a significant market-ready product portfolio in 2006. DataLase's existing coding and marking solution--a clean, indelible imaging technique for applying variable information to an array of materials at full production line speeds--will be branded as DataLase PACKMARK. DataLase PACKMARK is a facilitating technology for coding and marking of primary packaging that extends and enhances the use of laser marking and imaging.

DataLase will also be rebranding its existing portfolio of security applications. The DigiVU range of products will now be known as DataLase GUARDMARK and will provide covert and overt image applications for document and brand protection. In addition, the company plans to launch complete market-ready solutions during 2006 for a range of applications. The product suite will include DataLase CASEMARK, a cost-effective label-replacement solution for secondary packaging, DataLase FOODMARK for on-product marking of foodstuffs, and DataLase PHARMAMARK for on-tablet marking applications.

More information about DataLase is available at www.datalase.com or by e-mail: info@datalase.com.
