Frost & Sullivan honors Pleora for GigE machine-vision product innovation

MARCH 19, 2008--Frost & Sullivan (Palo Alto, CA, USA) has honored Pleora Technologies (Ottawa, ON, Canada; www.pleora.com) for its role in bringing GigE (Gigabit Ethernet) based products to the machine-vision market, awarding it the 2007 North American Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Innovation. "Pleora's iPORT family of GigE connectivity products broke new technological ground," says Frost & Sullivan research analyst Vishnu Sivadevan. "The company proved that machine-vision applications can use the economical GigE platform to transport video and imaging data in real time between cameras and PCs, eliminating the need for more costly specialized equipment. This award is a validation of the technology risks Pleora took in carving out a place for GigE connectivity in high-performance vision applications."

Pleora's family of iPORT IP engines use purpose-built hardware to convert video and imaging data to IP packets for distribution over Ethernet networks. The engines deliver unparalleled throughput in small foot-print, low-power packages and are bundled with comprehensive software libraries and powerful drivers.

Since Pleora's first GigE-based products were introduced in 2002, Pleora has provided solutions for thousands of deployments in systems and cameras for applications under water, on land, in the air, and even in outer space.
