• San Bernardino County adopts ImageWare face-ID software
  OCTOBER 3--ImageWare Systems Inc. (www.iwsinc.com) has been selected by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department in California to provide its Crime Capture System (CCS), a digital booking system, and Face ID, a fully integrated facial-recognition software product that utilizes FaceIt technology from Visionics Corp. (Jersey City, NJ, and Minnetonka, MN; www.visionics.com).
• OPTICS 1 Inc. wins $25 million Navy contract
  OCTOBER 2--OPTICS 1 Inc. (Westlake Village, CA; www.optics1.com) has won a contract from the Naval Air Warfare Center (Lakehurst, NJ) worth $25 million over five years to develop a new imaging optical system called AMOSS (Advanced Multi-spectral Optical Surveillance System).
• Analogic acquires interest in Cedara Software
  OCTOBER 2--Analogic Corp. (Peabody, MA; www.analogic.com) has acquired a 19% interest in Cedara Software Corp. (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; www.cedara.com) in return for an equity investment of US $7.5 million and other considerations.
• StockerYale sells Stilson Machine Tool and Accessories division
  OCTOBER 1--StockerYale Inc. (Salem, NH; www.stockeryale.com), a provider of phase masks, specialty optical fiber, and specialized illumination products, has sold its Stilson Die-Draulics division for $1.1 million
• InVision Technologies receives $2 million order from El Al Airlines
  OCTOBER 1--InVision Technologies Inc. (Newark, CA; www.invision-tech.com) has received an order valued at approximately $2 million for two CTX 5500DS Explosive Detection Systems (EDSs) and related services from El Al Israel Airlines Ltd.
• Intel names chief technology officer
  SEPTEMBER 28--Intel Corp. (Santa Clara, CA; www.intel.com/pressroom), a manufacturer of computer, networking, and communications products, has named Patrick Gelsinger chief technology officer (CTO), making him the first CTO in the company's 33-year history.
• South Korean industrial leader invests $3 million in eMagin Corp.
  SEPTEMBER 28--eMagin Corp. (Hopewell Junction, NY; www.emagin.com), developer of organic light-emitting-diode-on-silicon microdisplay technology, and SK Corp. (Seoul, Korea), a flagship company of SK Group, have announced a strategic investment by SK Corp. in eMagin.
• DRS Technologies receives US army contract to provide second-generation thermal-imaging systems
  SEPTEMBER 26--DRS Technologies Inc. (Parsippany, NJ; www.drs.com) has been awarded a contract from the US Army to provide second-generation forward-looking infrared (SG FLIR) thermal imaging systems (TISs) for the gunner's sighting system on the Abrams M1A2 System Enhancement Package (SEP).
• Omnivision receives ISO 9001 certification
  SEPTEMBER 17-- The ISO 9000 Standard was written by representatives from the United States and 14 European countries and published in 1987 by the International Organization for Standardization in Geneva, Switzerland.
• Internet-based photo resource supports victims and their families
  In an effort to assist those with loved ones that are missing during times of intense recovery and rescue activities in New York City and Washington, DC, dotPhoto Inc. (Ewing, NJ) is hosting still photos of victims of missing persons on www.dotphoto.com at no cost.
