• TI Automotive Group uses ABB/Braintech solution for plastic fuel tanks
  AUGUST 13--Braintech Inc. (North Vancouver, BC, Canada; www.braintech.com) and ABB Flexible Automation--part of ABB Canada--have successfully completed another multicamera installation for the TI Automotive Group of North America, which produces blow-molded plastic fuel tanks.
• Integral Vision announces Sharpeye order from Kodak
  AUGUST 13--Integral Vision Inc. (Farmington Hills, MI; www.iv-usa.com) has received an order for a SharpEye inspection station from Eastman Kodak Company (Rochester, NY; www.kodak.com) to be used for the inspection of organic-light-emitting-diode (OLED) displays
• DRS Technologies to acquire Boeing's Sensors and Electronic Systems business
  AUGUST 10--DRS Technologies Inc. (Parsippany, NJ; www.drs.com) has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the assets and certain liabilities of the Sensors and Electronic Systems (SES) business of The Boeing Company for approximately $84 million, subject to adjustment.
• Pass21 purchases all assets of Veridicom
  AUGUST 8--Pass21 Co. Ltd. (Seoul, Korea; pass21.co.kr), an emerging biometric-authentication-solution provider in Korea, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire all assets of Veridicom Inc. (Santa Clara, CA), including its name.
• Genesis ships 3 million gmZAN1 LCD controllers
  AUGUST 8--Genesis Microchip (San Jose, CA; www.genesis-microchip.com) has shipped more than 3 million gmZAN1 LCD monitor controller chips--a company record.
• PennWell acquires Strategies Unlimited
  AUGUST 3--PennWell Corp. (Tulsa, OK; www.pennwell.com), the global media and information company, has acquired market-research and management-consulting firm Strategies Unlimited, which specializes in leading-edge technologies including optical networks, optoelectronic components, wireless communications, compound semiconductors, and photovoltaics.
• Viisage Technology system to aid investigations
  JULY 31--Viisage Technology Inc. (Littleton, MA; www.viisage.com) has been awarded a $2.7 million contract to provide the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office in Florida with face-recognition technology to aid investigations and to provide an inmate-booking system integrated with face-recognition technology.
• Viisage Technology forms biometric Internet-security business unit
  JULY 30--Viisage Technology Inc. (Littleton, MA; www.viisage.com) has created a new business unit to improve computing and Internet security using face-recognition technology.
• Hitachi to concentrate resources on flat-panel displays
  JULY 30--Hitachi Ltd. (Tokyo, Japan; www.hitachi.com) has decided to withdraw from the cathode-ray-tube (CRT).
• Telegen opens new flat-panel-display manufacturing facility
  JULY 24--Telegen Corp. (San Mateo, CA; www.telegendisplays.com) has completed construction and outfitting of its 5200-sq ft high-gain emissive-display (HGED) prototype manufacturing facility in Foster City, CA, and expects to start limited manufacturing activities shortly.
