• Texas Instruments Senior Fellow joins National Instruments board of directors
  AUGUST 9--National Instruments (Austin, TX; ni.com) has announced that Duy-Loan Le, a 20-year veteran with Texas Instruments (TI) and a current TI Senior Fellow, has been elected to its board of directors.
• Philips Electronics to sell its CSI business to Bosch
  AUGUST 8--Royal Philips Electronics (Amsterdam, The Netherlands; www.philips.com/newscenter) and Robert Bosch GmbH (Ottobrunn, Germany; www.bosch-presse.de) have signed a preliminary agreement regarding the sale of Philips' business unit Communication, Security & Imaging (CSI).
• Olympus signs Wavefront Coding license agreement with CDM Optics
  AUGUST 8--CDM Optics Inc. (Boulder, CO; www.cdm-optics.com) and Olympus Optical Co. Ltd. have announced an agreement for the use of CDM Optic's proprietary Wavefront Coding technology in Olympus' endoscopy products.
• AcquireNow software captures high-speed images of ice crystals in high-altitude clouds
  AUGUST 8--Boulder Imaging Inc. (Louisville, CO; www.boulderimaging.com) has participated with SPEC Inc. (www.specinc.com) in CRYSTAL-FACE (cloud1.arc.nasa.gov/crystalface, the government-sponsored scientific mission to measure how cloud characteristics alter the atmosphere's temperature and affect global warming.
• NI's LabView integrates with TI's Code Composer Studio
  AUGUST 6--National Instruments (NI; Austin, TX) is integrating its LabView graphical measurement software with Texas Instruments' (TI; Houston, TX) Code Composer Studio development tools.
• Linescan cameras to offer USB 2.0
  AUGUST 5--Vision Systems Engineering Ltd. (Kenmore, WA), a manufacturer of linescan cameras featuring USB 2.0 interfaces and machine-vision software for DSP-based cameras, has signed a contract to develop a USB 2.0 interface for CTEC Photonics LLC (Modesto, CA).
• Port Of Sokhna to provide inspection systems to protect cargo operations
  AUGUST 2--The private Port of Sokhna, owned by Egyptian Container Handling Company and operated by Sokhna Port, has ordered x-ray inspection systems from American Science and Engineering Inc. (AS&E; Billerica, MA; www.as-e.com).
• DALSA reports impressive revenue and earnings growth in second-quarter 2002
  AUGUST 2--DALSA Corporation (Waterloo, Ontario, Canada) has reported its second-quarter financial results for the period ended June 30, 2002.
• Cognex Corporation announces second-quarter results
  AUGUST 2--Cognex Corporation (Natick, MA; www.cognex.com) announced revenue for the second quarter, ended June 30, 2002, of $26,671,000, compared to $37,379,000 reported for the second quarter of 2001.
• Coreco reports second-quarter results
  AUGUST 1--Coreco Inc. (Montreal, Canada; www.imaging.com) has reported revenue for the second quarter, ended June 30, 2002, of $4,912,528, an increase of 2% on a sequential basis from $4,837,358 in the first quarter of 2002.
