• InVision Technologies receives $13.5 million order from Canada
  JUNE 13--The Canadian Aviation Transportation Security Administration has ordered additional InVision Technologies Inc. (Newark, CA; www.invision-tech.com) explosives-detection systems for in-line, automated baggage screening.
• Actuality gets $1.5 million funding for its 3-D system
  JUNE 13--Actuality Systems Inc. (Burlington, MA; www.actuality-systems.com), which develops 3-D visualization systems, has received $1.5 million in series B funding from Navigator Technology Ventures (Cambridge, MA) and a group of private investors.
• Imagis system purchased by RCMP detachment in British Columbia
  JUNE 10--The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) detachment in British Columbia has purchased law-enforcement software, the Computerized Arrest and Booking System, from Imagis Technologies Inc. (Vancouver, Canada; www.imagistechnologies.com), a developer and marketer of biometrics-based software.
• JAI America Inc. moves US headquarters to Boston
  JUNE 6--JAI Camera Solutions (Woburn, MA; www.jai.com), manufacturer and supplier of cameras for automated imaging and general imaging/surveillance markets, has relocated its North American office from California to Boston, MA.
• PET imaging center under construction
  JUNE 5--The Sagemark Companies Ltd. (New York, NY) has begun the construction of a state-of-the-art, free-standing positron-emission-tomography (PET) medical diagnostic imaging center in Parsippany, NJ.
• Newport completes sale of US-based metrology assets
  JUNE 4--Newport Corporation (Irvine, CA) has completed the sale of its US-based noncontact metrology business to an affiliate of Optical Gaging Products of Rochester, NY, a privately held designer and manufacturer of precision noncontact and multisensor coordinate-measuring systems used for dimensional inspection.
• Viisage buys face-recognition technology from defunct eTrue
  JUNE 3--Viisage Technology Inc. (Littleton, MA; www.viisage.com) has acquired the intellectual property and related assets of the face-recognition arm of eTrue.com--the Miros division.
• August Technology to acquire Semiconductor Technologies and Instruments
  JUNE 3--August Technology Corporation (Minneapolis, MN; www.augusttech.com) has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Semiconductor Technologies and Instruments Inc. (Plano, TX), owned by ASTI Holdings Ltd. of Singapore.
• Clemex strengthens position in pharmaceutical market
  MAY 31--Clemex Technologies Inc. (Montreal, Canada; www.clemex.com) has announced the sale of three imaging systems in the pharmaceutical market, representing total gross proceeds of approximately C$200,000.
• RVSI gets orders for semiconductor-inspection systems
  MAY 30--The Semiconductor Equipment Group of Robotic Vision Systems Inc. (Canton, MA; www.rvsi.com) has received orders for multiple semiconductor-inspection systems from an Asian-based subcontract semiconductor-assembly organization.
