• TI cuts 500 jobs amid mixed Q3 results
  OCTOBER 30--Preparing for a lackluster holiday season, Texas Instruments Inc. (TI; Dallas, TX; www.ti.com) has announced that it has cut 500 jobs amid a lackluster forecast for the fourth quarter of 2002.
• DuPont, Sarnoff, and Bell Labs to collaborate on developing advanced display technology
  OCTOBER 29--As part of a federally sponsored research-and-development initiative, DuPont (Wilmington, DE; www.dupont.com/displays) and Sarnoff Corporation (Princeton, NJ; www.sarnoff.com), a subsidiary of SRI International, have agreed to develop new organic thin-film-transistor technology on plastic substrates.
• Danaher Corporation acquires Dover Instrument
  OCTOBER 24--Danaher Corporation (Salem, NH), a manufacturer of motion-control products and systems, has acquired Dover Instrument Corporation in a transaction completed late in September.
• August Technology enters China market with 3Di bump-inspection tool
  OCTOBER 23--August Technology (Minneapolis, MN; www.augusttech.com) has received its first order for a 3Di Series automated wafer- and bump-inspection system shipping to China.
• RVSI receives order from Asian material supplier
  OCTOBER 23--Robotic Vision Systems Inc. (RVSI; Canton, MA; www.rvsi.com) has received a $2.2 million order for 3-D substrate-inspection systems from a major Asian material supplier.
• Kodak names Sumitomo Japanese distributor
  OCTOBER 23--Eastman Kodak Company (Rochester, NY; www.kodak.com/go/oled) has announced that Sumitomo Corporation has been appointed distributor for Kodak OLED materials in Japan.
• StockerYale announces reduced operating loss
  OCTOBER 22----StockerYale Inc. (Salem, NH; www.stockeryale.com), an independent supplier of photonics-based products, has announced financial results for the third quarter of fiscal 2002.
• Imagis Technologies and Orion Scientific Systems complete deployment of digital imaging-sharing system
  OCTOBER 21--Imagis Technologies Inc. (Vancouver, Canada; www.imagistechnologies.com) and its business partner, Orion Scientific Systems (www.orionsci.com) have successfully completed the deployment of the Multi-agency Uniform Imaging System for Alameda County, CA.
• FLIR Systems announces record 3rd-quarter financial results, new thermal-imaging camera line
  OCTOBER 17-- FLIR Systems Inc. (Portland, OR; www.flir.com) has declared that net earnings for the third quarter ended September 30, 2002 increased 73% to a third quarter record $10.7 million, or $0.60 per diluted share.
• Mercury Computer Systems posts 47th consecutive quarter of profitable company performance
  OCTOBER 16--Mercury Computer Systems Inc. (Chelmsford, MA; www.mc.com) reported results for the first quarter FY2003, ended September 30, 2002.
