• Media Cybernetics acquires Definitive Imaging assets
  SEPTEMBER 26--Media Cybernetics Inc. (Silver Spring, MD), a provider of analytical image-analysis software, has acquired all of the intellectual property and related assets of Definitive Imaging Ltd., an image-analysis software provider for metallographic and materials-science quality control.
• Viisage Technology awarded additional facial-recognition patent
  SEPTEMBER 23--Viisage Technology Inc. (Littleton, MA; www.viisage.com), a leader in facial-recognition technology and identification systems and solutions, has been awarded an additional US patent, further extending its intellectual property in the fast growing and critical field of biometric technology.
• Nikon Instruments creates new business divisions
