• Chip sales confirm broad-based recovery
  OCTOBER 7--Worldwide computer-chip sales hit $11.9 billion in August, a 2.2% increase over the $11.7 billion level reached in July, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA; www.semichips.org).
• Chip sales continue to rise, according to the EECA
  OCTOBER 2--Semiconductor sales in August stood at $11.927 billion, a 14.2% increase above the same month a year ago and up 2.2% on a monthly sequential basis, according to the European Electronic Component Manufacturers Association.
• US market for medical imaging and related products to reach nearly $10 billion by 2007
  OCTOBER 1--According to a soon-to-be-released updated report from Business Communications Company Inc. (Norwalk, CT ; www.bccresearch.com), the US medical imaging market, including imaging equipment and related products, is estimated at $8.2 billion in 2002 and is expected to grow at a 4.0% AAGR (average annual growth rate) to nearly $10 billion (in 2002 dollars) by 2007.
• Worldwide chip sales up 2.2% in August from July
  OCTOBER 1--Global chip sales totaled $11.9 billion in August, a 2.2% sequential increase over the $11.7 billion level reach in July, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association (San Jose, CA).
• B-to-B lands at 1.14 after orders drop
  SEPTEMBER 30--The North American-based manufacturers of semiconductor equipment posted $1.12 billion in orders in August and a book-to-bill ratio of 1.14, according to the latest Express Report by Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI;www.semi.org).
• IPC releases book-to-bill ratio and PCB business report
  SEPTEMBER 27--IPC-Association Connecting Electronics Industries (Northbrook, IL) announced that the US printed-circuit-board industry book-to-bill ratio for August 2002 was 0.98.
• LCD monitor market stalls in Europe
  SEPTEMBER 26--DisplaySearch (Austin, TX; www.displaysearch.com) partner in Europe, Meko, has just published its latest DisplayCast CRT and LCD reports indicating that the European desktop-monitor market volume declined 20.9% Q/Q and 2% Y/Y in Q2'02.
• New event for growing European display market
  SEPTEMBER 12--Meko and DisplaySearch have joined forces to launch a new conference--DisplayForum 2002--to be held December 11-12 in Nice, France.
• DisplaySearch report shows small/medium-display shipments rebound in Q2'02
  SEPTEMBER 11--DisplaySearch (Austin, TX; www.displaysearch.com) has indicated that small/medium-display shipments increased in the mobile-phone, PDA, automotive-monitor, video-camera, and digital still camera markets driven by significant shifts in supplier rankings in Q2'02.
• July chip sales rise 2.9%
  SEPTEMBER 9--Global chip sales reached $11.7 billion in July, a 2.9% increase over the June level of $11.4 billion, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA; www.semichips.org).
